Crafter Interview: eesome

Business Name: eesome
Artist’s Name: Holly Greenwood

Describe your business and craft?
eesome is all about backpacks, bags, and pouches. but also many other little things like ipod cases, keychains, and handmade cards. I get bored easily, so i am always looking for new items to make!

Do you have a particular item you want featured? Why this item?
I would like my silkscreened ginkgo backpack to be featured. This is the direction that eesome is going in, handmade items made out of hand printed fabrics. I created the ginkgo fabric this summer after I took a screen printing class, and I love how it turned out. I have a few other screen printed backpacks but the ginkgo one is definitely the best. I'm about to have a lot of free time since I am graduating from college, so I plan to create several new lines of printed fabric...

If you had to switch crafts and do something else for your business, what would it be?
That's a tough one! I think I might like to sell baked goods because I love baking. Cupcakes, cakes, pies, those sorts of things. I love the decorating aspect, so I think I could transfer my sewing style into a cake decorating style.

The craft bug starts somewhere. What is your earliest memory of making something crafty?
My mother was going to art school while I was growing up, so she was always working on art. She encouraged us to paint and draw from when we were just a few years old. I started sewing around 6 or 7, and never really stopped.

What is your favorite craft tool to work with?
I love my sewing machine. I just recently bought a nice new, great quality one that has made sewing SO much easier. I cant live without it!

I am so in love with my backpack that I got from you and I've used my phone cozy every day. You made my weekend!
