Crafter Interview: Tasha McKelvey

Artist’s Name: Tasha McKelvey

Describe your business and craft?
I make pottery & ceramic jewelry mostly inspired by woodland scenes.

Where is your favorite place in Richmond and why?
The woods, river and trails near my house. I feel really, really lucky to have found a home in the city so close to trails & the river - I have always loved spending time outdoors.

Do you have a particular item you want featured? Why this item?
My bird bowls! I love making these because each little bird comes out with his or her own little personality.

The craft bug starts somewhere. What is your earliest memory of making something crafty?
In my family, we were always making, painting, sewing, building or cooking something. But I do have a really early memory of making mud pies, that's kind of like pottery right?

What is your favorite craft tool to work with?
My potter's wheel, but of course my kiln is a very close second.
